Guest Rating5.6out of 7I have enjoyed eating at Changos since they opened in 1998. I think it is in a great location near campus that provides a good alternative to fast food. Ever since I lived in San Francisco and regularly went to the mission on a burrito hunt, Taquerias outside of San Francisco have never lived up to my expectations. Changos is no exception. However, Changos does make for a good substitution for the monster burritos from the mission. I just wish Changos could deliver it for the same price. The food is consistently pretty good and their quality of ingredients seems to be pretty high. My only real complaint is the burrito assembly was all wrong. Burritos are like sandwiches, you need to have an even dispersement of the ingredients in order to enjoy all of the ingredients combines in every bite. At Changos on more than one occasion they prepare my Burrito like a sandwich with the meat on one side, the condiments on the other. Why does that matter? I was wondering until 3/4 of the way through the burrito where is the hot sauce and sour cream? Then I found it a messy pool of very spicy sour cream in the last quarter of the burrito. I think it would be fun to bring a mixer down there and put the burrito in it after they have prepared it and blend it for about a minute.
Other than the poor assembly of burritos at Changos, I really like there I wouldn't rate Changos as a favorite restaurant of mine but I would recommend it for convenience to UT and a good option in the restaurant maze around there.
